Peter is the Assistant Director of Education in the Diocese of Birmingham, and is a National Leader of Governance.

Colin Hopkins

Colin Hopkins

Colin has been Director of Education for the Diocese of Lichfield since 2006. Previously he worked for the Diocese of Southwark and the National Society/Archbishops’ Council. He was Secretary to the Church Schools Review Group (chaired by the late Lord Dearing) which published The Way ahead: Church of England Schools in the New Millennium (2001).

Sarah has been Director of Education for the Diocese of Birmingham since 2014. Prior to this Sarah worked in schools.

Jane Nelson

 

 Jane Nelson

Jane is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Access and Lifelong Learning) at the University of Wolverhampton, where she has overall responsibility for student recruitment and growth, managing student numbers, access and lifelong learning, and working with schools and colleges. She also leads on environment and carbon management issues. Jane is a Director of UCAS, and chairs its Pension Trust.

Ava Sturridge-Packer CBE

Ava Sturridge-Packer CBE

Ava is Principal of St Mary's CE Primary Academy in Handsworth, Birmingham. She is a National Leader of Education and her school is a National Support School. She has supported leadership teams in a number of schools in Birmingham and other local authorities. She was awarded a CBE for services to education in 2000. Ava is a national judge for the Teaching Awards.

Chris Brislen

Chris is a National Leader of Education (NLE) and Chief Executive Officer of the St Bart's Multi-Academy Trust. He has significant experience of academy conversion, has been a headteacher / executive headteacher for 17 years in eight different schools and is a Lay Reader in the Church of England.

Diocesan Improvement Adviser

Joanna is an Ofsted inspector and has effectively supported schools across the UK as a National Leader. She has been a successful headteacher and executive headteacher of three amalgamated schools. Jo has successfully supported CECET academies throughout Ofsted inspections.

Huw Bishop

Huw Bishop

Assistant to the Director & Diocesan Improvement Adviser

Huw has extensive experience of leadership, having been principal and executive principal of three successful Church of England secondary schools. Huw is Assistant to the Diocesan Director of Education, a SIAMS and Ofsted inspector.

Sue Blackmore

Sue Blackmore

Adviser for Christian Distinctiveness & Executive Officer to CECET

Sue has been successfully supporting schools within the diocese for 10 years. She is an accredited Godly Play leader. She taught in a variety of primary schools and completed a Farmington Fellowship focused upon EYFS RE. She has SIAMS inspector experience.

Jane is an experienced practitioner which includes 18 years as headteacher of a successful CofE school. As head she lead her primary school through inspections, gaining outstanding for both SIAMS and Ofsted. Jane is a Local Leader of Education and mentor for NPQH.

Mark joined the team in 2017. With 30 years in education, including Assistant Head of an inner city CE school and 10 years as a SIAS/SIAMS inspector Mark brings a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Financial Accounting Officer

Stuart has over 20 years in finance and is nearing completion of ACCA, already being Part Qualified. For the last 2 years Stuart has worked exclusively in the education setting, mainly supporting and advising academies. This has included onsite support and training to school business managers, principals and governors.

Joining the Education Department in 2004 Heather provides administrative support to the team.

Human Resources & Project Management Officer

For the last 5 1/2 years Zoe has worked in HR for Local Authorities, predominately with Lichfield Diocese CE schools. For the last 3 years she has gained extensive experience of academy conversions and trading services to educational establishments along with recruitment, payroll and pensions.

Kerin's career includes over 20 years of successful headships in two schools. He has participated in a large number of primary and secondary school inspections on behalf of Ofsted and has worked as an independent consultant and adviser to schools.

Interim 5-10s and Schools Enabler

Libby is a qualified teacher and a key leader of the Reaching New Generations (RNG) team. Her role involves works with all churches and schools/academies (all phases and types) across the diocese. Prior to joining the team in 2010 Libby worked as a teacher and a children's Pioneer Minister for a church in Wolverhampton.

Joining the Diocesan team in 2002 my primary function is to assist the Director in carrying out his duties. The administrative role in appointing and supporting foundation governors and those of the Cathedral and Abbey Door Projects are just a few of my other responsibilities.

Rosemary has 5 years experience as an inspector for Ofsted. During her 10 years as a local authority adviser she was the 14-19 lead, English consultant and Senior Adviser for School Improvement.

Property Adviser

Steve is a qualified architect. He is able to provide advice to headteachers/principals and governing bodies on school buildings and land and in particular for those schools that bear responsibility for the premises. He advises site trustees on land and charity matters. Prior to joining the team in 2007, Steve worked as an architect in both the private and public sector.

Claire has 20 years teaching experience, including 2 headships. and 12 years’ experience as SENCO. She has worked in both inner city and rural schools. Claire was a Consultant Leader for Bristol City Council and has extensive experience of coaching in a range of school settings.

Pete has 17 successful years as head at middle and primary schools. He has worked in all phases of education including Special and has Ofsted experience.

Helen is Head of Operations for CECET. Her successful career in education support spans 13 years. As Head of Financial Management Helen had responsibility for budget setting, financial reporting and policies.

Sue is Head of School Performance for Lichfield Diocese. Her successful career has included three headships, senior LA adviser, Assistant Managing Director for Walsall Children's Services, Serco and Director of School Improvement for Academy Transformation Trust.

Alex has worked in CofE primary and middle schools int he UK and internationally. She has an MA in Mission and Evangelism and a diploma in cross cultural studies. Alex currently manages the RE:quest website as part of her work for Youth for Christ.

Rosemary is a SIAMS inspector and leads the LDBE - Kenya Church School partnership initiative. She has an MA in RE and an extensive teaching background. Rosemary joined the team in 2008.
